Happy Birthday, Kristin!

Special birthday message from Thomas: "Maybe for your birthday, my mom will give me another cupcake."

Wellie Weather

T wears his wellies non stop in the house (he's a bit obsessed with them). He can put them on himself, so it's not uncommon for me to suddenly find him marching around in them. Since it's been raining for the past few days, he actually got to wear them out in public.

Mmmmm

I knew I would be in Georgetown today, so this morning I told Thomas that I was going out, and that I would bring him a cupcake when I came home. One of his favorite books has a picture of a cupcake, so he knew exactly what I was talking about, and immediately started saying, "Mmmmm." My mom was here with Thomas while I was out, and she would periodically say to him, "When Mommy comes home..." She couldn't finish the sentence without Thomas interrupting with an emphatic "mmmmmm!"

As you can imagine, he was looking forward to his cupcake. So as promised, I went to that certain cupcake place in Georgetown, and I didn't even have to wait in line. Check out the photo worthy tasty treats:

Noticeably absent is the Key Lime cupcake, which my mother and I wasted no time in devouring as soon as I arrived home. I also had to sample the Red Velvet, you know, to make sure it wasn't poisoned or anything.

Finally, the little man woke up, and I presented him with his snack.

He tried inhaling it at first, but that proved to be ineffective. He quickly resorted to traditional methods.

Make Yourself at Home

Still loving the books!
The other day, when my mom was babysitting, she watched as T. grabbed a book, burrowed into the beanbag and started to flip through the pages. The camera was within reach, so she was able to get a few shots to document it all.

p.s. Check out those big feet!

Ray Ray to the Rescue

Thanks to a sopping wet diaper that leaked through, Thomas woke up extra early today (5:30 a.m.) and would not go back to sleep. He was tired and being a complete pill. Luckily, last night Grumpa Ray Ray gave me a new toy to give to T, which I presented to him this morning. It seemed to do the trick, and now his mood is much improved.

Hopefully he won't make the connection that a bad mood = a new toy.

Weekend Update

Our first event: St. Patrick's Day Parade with friends

Fish and Chips and a Guinness, and a great view of the parade.

The lovely ladies.

T with his "too cool for school" look.

Family portrait--please note, all colors of the Irish flag represented.

This is what too much partying will do to a lad and lassie.

Next item on the agenda:
Outdoor Activities

T was sure to get all the chores out of the way. . .

Before having a little t-ball fun with Daddy.

We're still working on technique.

Special video greeting from Thomas:

Dear M. Nature

Just wondering if we can skip March and go straight to April? We are ready for the showers, and would gladly trade cold wind for warm rain.

Morning Coffee

Totally engrossed!

He loves the opening credits and the first couple of songs. Just enough time for me to make a latte and read one or two sections of the paper.

Thomas' Snow Adventure, Take 2

Weather predictions held (imagine that?) so we had about 6 inches of snow to enjoy.

G took advantage of the snow delays and stuck around to enjoy a big breakfast with T. . .eggs, bacon and pancakes (from scratch!).

T: "C'mon Mom, you can give me some bacon. I promise I can chew it, don't let my lack of molars fool you."

After G went to work, we got down to business building our bobsled run in the backyard.

Finished product:

And the test run. . .

Success!

Weekend at Renee and Pop Pop's

We spent last weekend at Renee and Pop Pop's house, and Thomas had the best time exploring.

Sitting in the little chair and playing with wooden apples (it was a wooden apple paradise), creating an impromptu "Olan Mills" moment. This photo was not staged!

Thomas also had fun pointing out all the horses. There are a lot! He got to ride on this one.

And there was a tiny piano that was just right for T,

And a big one for Daddy and T.

Thanks for a fun weekend!
